WELCOME TO CENTRAL SQ

On September 9th, 2012, Cambridge Carnival International celebrated 20 years. Each year, dancers and musicians with Afro-Caribbean roots start at the bottom of River Street in Cambridgeport and dance their way to Kendall Square where even more celebration takes place. I love when River Street becomes a current of colorful feathers, beads, and dancing bodies.

Every year at the end of June, the city of Cambridge shuts down a portion of Mass Ave. right in front of City Hall. People of all ages, genders, races, and backgrounds take to the street and dance in one big sweaty, beautiful mass. This footage was recorded on June 29th, 2012.
